Goals:

  • Continued use of Finale Notepad for composing simple melodies
  • Review of basics of music theory (staff, notes, rhythms)
  • Compose a two part 16 measure melody in AABA form (like Beethoven's deom)

Requirements:

  • Choose guitar and one other instrument (flute, oboe, recorder, violin)
  • 16 measure melody
  • AABA Form
  • Copy the Guitar line of Beethoven's 9th Symphony
  • Use any notes on the staff (D, E, F#, G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G)
  • Start and end your composition on the note G (either low or high)
  • Use only whole notes, half notes, quarter notes and pairs of eighth notes
  • Use a rest at the end of each 4 measure phrase (or use a comma to indicate a breath mark)
  • At least 4 dynamic changes
