Goals:
  • Beginning use of Finale Notepad for notation
  • Review basics of music theory (staff, notes, rhythms)
  • Transcribe "Hot Crossed Buns" in Finale Notepad

Procedure Look for this
1. Review Music Fundamentals at www.musictheory.net

 
2. Open Finale Notepad

3. Click Continue ...

4. Title your project Lastname Pro 1 and put your name as the composer.
Click Next...

5. Select one of the following instruments...
Flute, Oboe, Violin, Electric Guitar
Click Add... Click Next...

6. Select the 4/4 time signature, then push the up arrow once, selecting the
key of G Major. Click Finish...

7. When your document appears, go to the Menu Bar and select File => Save as...
Then title the project lastname pro 1 and save the file to your folder.

Always Save before class is over.
Apple-S
is the short cut for this.

To Re-open your file, Open your Folder and double click on lastname pro 1.

 

8. Begin entering the notes as you see them below...

You will be mainly using the
Simple Entry Palatte
to enter the notes as you see them. Use the playback controls to see how it sounds...

Note: Remember there is a difference between the rhythmic values...

9. When you have finished entering all the notes, you will need to delete all the extra measures.

To do this, select the mover tool (looks like a box, next to the A).

Highlight the extra measures (hold down shift to select more than one) and then use the delete key on the keyboard.
