Oak Prairie Junior High School is now a "SmartMusic" school. The Music Department maintains three Digital Music Studios, which can be utilized by students before and after school. The Digital Music Studios were built with a te@ch award for technology in education from Best Buy, Inc.

Students are strongly encouraged to purchase a SmartMusic Subscription for use on their home computers. Most computer microphones will work well with SmartMusic.

What else can SmartMusic do?

• Practice Band Music.
• Assess Scale Exercises and Band Music Assignments.
• Slow Down an Mp3 Recording.
• Play by Ear Exercises.
• Play-a-long with Jazz Tracks.
• Create Practice Loops to Transcribe a jazz solo by a famous musician.
• Prepare Solo Music as if your accompanist was there every time you practice.
